Paweł Tomaszewski

Pianist, keyboardist, composer, arranger, music producer, conductor and academic professor. Head of the Jazz and Pop Music Department at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, the same Academy where he earned a master’s degree in Piano Performance in 2007 and a degree in Composition and Arrangements in 2006. In 2013, Pawel obtained a Ph.D. with a specialization in musical arts. Nominated for the Fryderyk Award in the Jazz Artist of the Year category in 2024.

He is the winner of the Grand Prix and individual awards at all of the most important jazz competitions in Poland. He has performed on stages around the world with Polish and international stars of jazz and popular music. In 2015, he was awarded the Golden Laurel of Skills and Competence in the field of “Culture”. He was an Artist-in-Residence at the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin during the 2021/2022 artistic season.

He has collaborated with artists including Kurt Elling, Nigel Kennedy, Steve Vai, China Moses, Eric Marienthal, Dean Brown, Michael “Patches” Stewart, Kinga Głyk, Michał Urbaniak, Jarosław Śmietana, Anna Maria Jopek, Edyta Górniak, Urszula Dudziak, Kuba Badach, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Marcin Wyrostek and Adam Bałdych. He was a co-creator of Natalia Kukulska’s album Czułe Struny, which was certified double platinum in 2024. He has recorded over 50 studio albums as a session musician.

Music director, arranger and pianist of Kuba Badach’s Jazzy Christmas project. Co-author of the arrangements and conductor of the concert Za Miłość, under the artistic direction of Natalia Kukulska. Author of the arrangements and conductor of Halina Mlynkova’s anniversary project 25, released as an album in 2026. Author of the arrangements and conductor of Marcin Wyrostek’s project Tradycja, released in 2025. The album received a nomination for the Fryderyk Award in the Album of the Year – Roots Music category. Music director, arranger and conductor of the Debuity concert during the 63rd National Festival of Polish Song in Opole.

He has participated in numerous festivals, television recordings, film and radio productions as a conductor, music director, arranger and pianist.
